Speaker Sahiba Gafarova wished Tamás Yojef Torma success in his diplomatic activities in Azerbaijan. Noting that last year marked 30th anniversary of establishment of the bilateral diplomatic relations, Sahiba Gafarova noted that the cooperation between the two countries had been progressing dynamically and reached the stage of strategic partnership throughout those years. Gafarova highlighted the special role the two states’ leaders’ reciprocal visits and meetings as well as of the documents inked so far in the development of the bilateral relations. “The signing of the Joint Declaration on enhanced strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Hungary Partnership signed during President Ilham Aliyev’s official visit to Hungary this year has raised our cooperation to a new level,” Gafarova said.
Touching upon the inter-parliamentary ties, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova underscored that her official visit to Hungary in 2021 contributed to the expansion of relations between the two countries’ legislative bodies. The speaker also praised the bridging role of friendship groups in this regard.
Speaker Sahiba Gafarova informed the Hungarian ambassador about the current situation in the region that has emerged following Azerbaijan’s liberation of its territories in 2020.
Hungarian Ambassador Tamás Yojef Torma hailed parliamentary diplomacy’s ever growing importance in the present time. The ambassador stressed the importance of the inter-parliamentary friendship groups in further development of relations between the two friendly countries and strategic partners. “The growing cooperation between Hungary and the Turkic World within the Organisation of Turkic States where Hungary has an observer status, will serve to further strengthen our countries’ positions,” the ambassador added.
During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
